The GE IS200STTCH2A is the cost-optimized thermocouple input module for the Mark VIe system—12 isolated TC inputs with 12-bit resolution, designed for applications where 16-bit resolution isn’t required. If you’ve got a lot of temperature points that don’t need the highest accuracy, this module gives you more channels at a lower cost.
The “STTCH2” designation tells you this is a thermocouple input module with 12-bit resolution. The “A” is the base revision. The module has twelve isolated TC inputs that can be programmed for J, K, T, and E thermocouples. It has 12-bit resolution—adequate for many monitoring applications. The module also has built-in cold-junction compensation. All inputs are isolated to 2,500 V.

Incoming Verification. OEM packing slip matched to GE’s serial database. We log the serial and photograph the anti-static bag before cutting. The holographic GE label gets a UV check. The PCB edge must read “–STTCH2A” clearly.
Visual Inspection. Magnifying lamp, full board scan. The TC input circuits are inspected for rework. The 96-pin backplane connector shows zero wear.
Live Functional Test. Mark VIe test rack with a precision thermocouple simulator (mV source) and a reference thermometer.

Field Replacement Pitfalls
The STTCH2A is a cost-optimized TC module—installation mistakes are similar to other TC modules.
TC Type—Program It Correctly. The module supports J, K, T, and E types only. Don’t connect R, S, or B types—they won’t work correctly.
Polarity—TCs are Polarity-Sensitive. Connect positive and negative correctly.
Cold-Junction Compensation—The Sensor is Onboard. Keep the terminal block at ambient temperature.
Resolution—12-bit is Adequate. The 12-bit resolution is fine for monitoring. For control applications requiring higher accuracy, use the 16-bit STAIH series.
Extension Wires—Use the Correct TC Extension Wire. Use TC extension wire (not copper) between the TC and the module.
ESD. The TC input circuits are sensitive. Strap up.
