Description
Product Introduction
The IS200TBCIS3CBD is the ultimate bearing current input module in the Mark VIe line—16 channels, 2 ms scan rate, advanced diagnostics, enhanced EMI filtering, extended-temperature performance, and conformal coating. It delivers rapid, clean, accurate bearing current signals in any environment, from –40 °C to +70 °C.
The “CBD” suffix combines high-density high-speed (C), revision C features (C)—advanced diagnostics and EMI filtering—with extended-temperature components and conformal coating (D). The input amplifiers are precision cold-rated parts that maintain accuracy and speed at –40 °C. The advanced diagnostics and EMI filtering work at temperature extremes. The board has conformal coating. The rest is the same: 16 inputs, 16-bit resolution, 2,500 V isolation.

Quality Inspection Process (SOP Transparency)
The TBCIS3CBD gets the most rigorous thermal chamber treatment—our 34-point inspection verifies scan speed, accuracy, diagnostics, and EMI rejection at –40 °C and +70 °C.
Incoming Verification. OEM packing slip matched to GE’s serial database. We log the serial and photograph the anti-static bag before cutting. The holographic GE label gets a UV check. The PCB edge must read “–TBCIS3CBD” clearly.
Visual Inspection. Magnifying lamp, full board scan. Conformal coating must be continuous. The precision cold-rated amplifiers, diagnostic circuits, and EMI filtering components are visually confirmed. The 96-pin backplane connector shows zero wear.
Live Functional Test. Mark VIe test rack with a precision current source (4–20 mA), reference ammeter, high-speed timer, diagnostic test jig, EMI generator, and Tenney chamber.
- Cold soak (4 hours at –40 °C): Scan rate test—full sweep <35 ms. Accuracy test—4 mA, 12 mA, 20 mA on all 16 channels—within ±0.25%. Loop diagnostics—open circuit, short circuit, degradation detection. EMI rejection—noise rejected.
- Hot soak (4 hours at +70 °C): Same tests—specs must hold.
- Isolation test: 2,500 V RMS—no breakdown.
- Thermal cycle: 3 cycles from –40 to +70 °C.
- 24-hour soak at 50 °C.
Electrical Parameters. Insulation resistance: 500 VDC via Megger MIT420, >20 MΩ. Ground continuity: <0.1 Ω.
Firmware Verification. Read the FPGA firmware via ToolboxST—verify the checksum.
Final QC & Packaging. The QC report includes scan rate, current accuracy on all channels at extremes, loop diagnostics, EMI rejection, isolation test, thermal cycle log, and a photo.
Field Replacement Pitfalls
The TBCIS3CBD handles temperature extremes, high density, and high speed—installation mistakes are similar to other current input modules.
Loop Power—External Supply Required. You need an external 24 VDC supply for the transmitters.
Loop Diagnostics—Enable Them. The advanced diagnostics work at –40 °C. Keep them enabled.
EMI Filtering—Enable It. The enhanced EMI filtering works at –40 °C. Enable it for cleaner signals.
Scan Rate—2 ms per Channel. The fast scan rate is useful for transients. If you don’t need the speed, other versions are more cost-effective.
Cold Temperature Input Drift—The “CBD” Holds Accuracy. The precision cold-rated amplifiers maintain accuracy at –40 °C. But the field transmitter might drift—use a transmitter rated for –40 °C.
Wiring—Use Shielded Cable. Use shielded twisted-pair cable and ground the shield at one end only.
ESD. The precision input circuits are sensitive. Strap up.
New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters
The TBCIS3CBD has 16 precision cold-rated high-speed amplifiers, advanced diagnostics, EMI filtering, and conformal coating—refurbishers can’t add these.
What “New Original (New Surplus)” means. This IS200TBCIS3CBD came from GE’s factory with all the enhancements. We break the seal only for testing.
Refurbished risk in plain terms. A refurbisher may buy a standard TBCIH1A, clean it, and sell it as a “CBD.” At –40 °C, the standard amplifiers drift, the scan speed is slow, the diagnostics fail, and the EMI filtering is inadequate. I’ve tested refurbished “CBD” units that were actually standard TBCIH1As—they failed every test. Failure rate on refurbished ultimate bearing current modules runs 5× higher than new.
Real cost of a refurbished failure. A bearing transient is missed and the signal is corrupted by EMI at –35 °C on channel 12—bearing damage goes undetected—bearing failure—100,000. The refurbished module saved you 1,200. The failure cost you 83× that.
What we provide as proof. For every IS200TBCIS3CBD we ship: a photo of the OEM packing slip, serial traceability to GE’s records, a full test report that includes scan rate, current accuracy on all 16 channels at –40 °C and +70 °C, loop diagnostics, EMI rejection, isolation test, thermal cycle log, and a sealed anti-static bag.
Pricing context. Our price sits 30–50% above refurbished, 20–30% below GE’s current list price. The delta covers our sourcing, our extended-temperature high-density high-speed advanced diagnostics testing, and a 12-month warranty.
