The IS200RAPAG1BAA is the combination of two field improvements: the Revision B’s improved EMC filtering and output drive, plus the extended-temperature rating of the “AA” suffix. It’s the module you want when your remote analog I/O rack sits in an outdoor cabinet in a noisy electrical environment and you’re not sure which problem will hit you first—the cold or the EMI.

The “BAA” suffix means this module has the common-mode chokes and additional filtering from the G1B, the low-drift amplifiers from the extended-temp versions, and the conformal coating. The output drivers can handle 1,000 Ω loads—handy for long cable runs. And the module holds its accuracy from –40 °C to +70 °C. The rest is standard RAPA: eight analog inputs, eight analog outputs, 2,500 V isolation, remote bus communication.

The RAPAG1BAA gets the full treatment—thermal chamber testing plus EMI stress tests. Our 34-point inspection verifies accuracy at extremes and noise rejection.

Incoming Verification. OEM packing slip matched to GE’s serial database. We log the serial and photograph the anti-static bag before cutting. The holographic GE label gets a UV check. The PCB edge must read “–RAPAG1BAA” clearly.

Visual Inspection. Magnifying lamp, full board scan. Conformal coating must be continuous. The low-drift amplifiers and EMC components are visually confirmed. The 96-pin backplane connector shows zero wear.

Live Functional Test. Mark VIe test rack with a precision voltage/current source, load bank, remote bus simulator, EMI generator, and Tenney chamber.

Field Replacement Pitfalls

The RAPAG1BAA handles temperature extremes and EMI, but installation mistakes are the same as the standard version.

Remote Bus Termination—Terminate Both Ends. Even with the extended-temp module, the bus needs termination at both ends.

Analog Outputs—4–20 mA, 1,000 Ω Load Capability. The module can drive 1,000 Ω loads—up from 750 Ω. But if your load is higher than 1,000 Ω, you still need an external amplifier.

Input Configuration—Program It. The defaults don’t work. One site in Pennsylvania saw no input readings—they’d left the inputs in the default state. The “BAA” doesn’t auto-configure.

EMI Filtering—Helps, But Not Magic. In a high-EMI environment, use shielded cable and ground the shield at one end only.

New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters

The RAPAG1BAA combines three upgrades—cold-rated amplifiers, EMC components, and conformal coating. Refurbishers can’t add these.

What “New Original (New Surplus)” means. This IS200RAPAG1BAA came from GE’s factory with all the upgrades. We break the seal only for testing.

Refurbished risk in plain terms.
