Product Introduction

Large drive systems need lots of I/O—a 10,000 HP compressor might have 50 digital inputs, 40 digital outputs, and 10 analog inputs. The 531X196DFAADG1 gives you 64 digital inputs, 64 digital outputs, and 16 analog inputs—enough for the largest applications.

The ADG1 is the high-density digital I/O board for the 1960 platform. It replaced the ACG1, which had 32 DI, 32 DO, and 8 AI. GE doubled the channel count, keeping the same 2,500 V isolation and 1 kHz analog sampling. I’ve used the ADG1 on a 10,000 HP compressor—the board handled all the control and status signals in a single slot, saving rack space.

Live Functional Test

Field Replacement Pitfalls

1. Digital Input Polarity—Sourcing Only

The digital outputs are rated for 0.5 A each. Use interposing relays for higher loads.

3. Analog Input Mode—0–10 V or 4–20 mA
The ADG1’s analog inputs are software-selectable. Set the mode to match the sensor.

4. Power Budget—Check the 24 V Supply
The ADG1 draws 2.0 A at 24 V with all outputs on. Check the rack’s power supply capacity.

5. Ground Loops—Single-Point Grounding
The analog inputs are single-ended. Use single-point grounding.

 

New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters

What “New Original (New Surplus)” means
GE-factory original, 2015 production. The digital I/O drivers are fresh. The analog inputs have zero hours.

Refurbished risk in plain terms
The digital output MOSFETs degrade with thermal cycling—a refurbished board might have reduced output current. The analog inputs might have drift—we measured a refurbished board with a 0.5% offset.

Real cost of a refurbished failure
A 10,000 HP compressor loses a digital output—the control signal fails, and the process stops. Cost: 40,000. The refurbished ADG1 cost 1,400; the new surplus board costs 1,700. Pay the 300.
