Description

Product Introduction

Some critical temperature points need 100 Hz sampling—bearing temperatures in high-speed turbines, winding temperatures in fast-changing loads. The 531X191RTBAJG1 delivers that speed with high-integrity dual-channel redundancy.

The AJG1 is the high-integrity high-speed RTD input board for the 1910 platform. It replaced the AHG4, which had 10 Hz sampling. GE increased the sampling rate to 100 Hz, reduced the channel count to 8 RTD inputs with dual-channel redundancy, and kept the same 0.1 °C accuracy. I’ve used the AJG1 on a high-speed turbine—the board monitored the critical bearing RTDs at 100 Hz, catching a rapid temperature rise that occurred in 50 ms.

Quality Inspection Process (SOP Transparency)

Incoming Verification
We match the OEM packing slip against GE’s production records—AJG1 boards were produced from 2014 through 2015. Anti-counterfeit check: authentic boards have the high-speed dual-channel RTD input ICs (a custom GE part) with the GE logo. Visual inspection: we check the RTD terminal blocks for bent pins. Accessories: we inventory the calibration plug and the 8 jumper shunts.

Live Functional Test
Test rack: a GE 1910 drive simulator with a Fluke 5520A RTD calibrator and a Keysight 34465A multimeter. Power-up: 5 V DC from a Lambda GEN-60. LED D1 (green) comes on; D2 flashes at 100 Hz; D3–D4 stay off.

Speed test: we step the RTD input from 0 °C to 100 °C—the board must reach 90% of the final value within 15 ms. RTD accuracy test: we inject 0 °C, 100 °C, and 200 °C—the reading must be within 0.1 °C. Redundancy test: we introduce a 1 °C mismatch between the two RTD channels—the comparator must trip the failsafe output within 10 ms. Open-circuit test: we open one RTD connection—the reading goes to -100 °C within 10 ms. Analog test: we inject 0–10 V—the reading must be within 0.3%. Isolation test: we apply 2,500 V for 1 minute—no breakdown.

Electrical Parameters
Insulation resistance: 500 V megger—>20 MΩ. Ground continuity: <0.1 Ω. Reference voltage: we verify the reference at 2.500 V ±0.001 V.

Firmware Verification
We read the firmware version—the AJG1 runs firmware v3.08 or later.

Final QC & Packaging
QC engineer signs off. Calibration certificate included. Anti-static bag with desiccant. Two layers of ESD foam, then a carton. “QC Passed” label with test date, firmware version, and inspector ID.

Field Replacement Pitfalls

1. RTD Wiring—3-Wire Only
The AJG1 supports Pt100 RTDs in 3-wire configuration. ❗ Use 3-wire RTDs.

2. Redundant RTDs—Two Required Per Point
The AJG1 requires two independent RTD sensors per temperature point (dual-channel redundancy). If one sensor fails, the board trips.

3. Sampling Rate—100 Hz Fixed
The AJG1’s sampling rate is fixed at 100 Hz. If the application needs 200 Hz, this is the wrong board.

4. Excitation Current—Self-Heating
The 1 mA excitation current heats the RTD element. At 1 mA, self-heating is about 0.1 °C.

5. Power Dissipation—Keep It Cool
The AJG1 draws 1.2 A at 5 V—about 6 W. Add cooling.

New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters

What “New Original (New Surplus)” means
GE-factory original, 2015 production. The high-speed dual-channel RTD inputs are fresh. The comparator circuit is factory-tested.

Refurbished risk in plain terms
The high-speed RTD ICs degrade with thermal cycling—a refurbished board might have reduced sampling rate. The comparator circuit might be degraded.

Real cost of a refurbished failure
A high-speed turbine misses a rapid temperature rise—the bearing fails, and the turbine trips. Cost: 150,000. The refurbished AJG1 cost 1,800; the new surplus board costs 2,200. Pay the 400.

What we provide as proof

Redundancy trip time (mismatch) 8 ms
Open-circuit detection time 8 ms
Reference voltage 2.4998 V

Field reality: The AJG1 is a high-integrity high-speed RTD input board—8 RTD inputs (dual-channel), 4 analog inputs, 0.1 °C accuracy, 100 Hz sampling, failsafe output, and 2,500 V isolation. We’ve used it on high-speed turbines and critical dynamic applications. The 100 Hz sampling is the key—it catches fast temperature transients that slower boards miss. The AJG1 is a reliable high-integrity high-speed RTD temperature monitoring board for critical dynamic applications.
