Product Introduction
The 1860 drive platform is installed worldwide—120 V AC in North America, 230 V AC in Europe, 240 V AC in Australia. The 531X186CPSAGG1 accepts any of these inputs—85 to 264 V AC (or 120–370 V DC)—making it the universal power supply for global installations.
The AGG1 is the universal input control power supply for the 1860 platform. It replaced the AFG1, which accepted only 120 V AC. GE added a universal input stage (85–264 V AC, 120–370 V DC), keeping the same output ratings and 1,500 V isolation. I’ve used the AGG1 on a project with drives shipped to 6 different countries—the same board worked everywhere, reducing spare parts inventory.

Incoming Verification
We match the OEM packing slip against GE’s production records—AGG1 boards were produced from 2012 through 2015. Anti-counterfeit check: authentic boards have the universal input power supply ICs with the GE logo. Visual inspection: we check the input terminal block for arc marks. The input fuse must be intact. Accessories: we inventory the DC output header plug and the input terminal cover.
Live Functional Test
Test rack: a GE 1860 drive simulator with a variable AC/DC source and resistive load banks. Power-up: 120 V AC from a variac. LED D1 (green) comes on; D2–D4 light as the outputs stabilize; D5 stays off.
Input test: we test the supply at 85 V AC, 120 V AC, 230 V AC, and 264 V AC—the outputs must stay within spec. DC test: we test the supply at 120 V DC and 370 V DC—the outputs must stay within spec. Output test: we load each output to its rated current and measure the voltage. Regulation test: we step-load each output—must be within ±2%. Isolation test: we apply 1,500 V for 1 minute—no breakdown.
Electrical Parameters
Insulation resistance: 1,500 V megger—>20 MΩ. Ground continuity: <0.1 Ω. Efficiency: we measure input power vs. output power—must be >86%.
Firmware Verification
No firmware.
Final QC & Packaging
QC engineer signs off. Anti-static bag with desiccant. Two layers of ESD foam, then a carton. “QC Passed” label with test date and inspector ID.
Field Replacement Pitfalls
1. Input Range—Automatic Selection
The AGG1 automatically accepts 85–264 V AC or 120–370 V DC. There is no selector switch—it’s universal. ❗ Verify the input voltage is within the range.
2. Input Fuse—8 A Slow-Blow
Use an 8 A slow-blow fuse (Littlefuse 314 series or equivalent) for AC input. For DC input, use a 10 A fast-blow fuse.
3. Output Loading—Don’t Exceed Ratings
The AGG1 has current limits: 6 A on 24 V, 10 A on 5 V, 2 A on ±15 V.
4. DC Input Polarity—Marked on the Board
For DC input, the terminal is marked + and -. Connect the positive lead to the + terminal.
5. Grounding—Use the Common Return
The outputs share a common return. Don’t tie the returns together at different points.
New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters
What “New Original (New Surplus)” means
GE-factory original, 2015 production. The universal input power supply ICs are fresh. The input fuse is factory-new.
Refurbished risk in plain terms
The universal input stage degrades with age—a refurbished board might have reduced efficiency. The capacitors age—a refurbished board might have reduced output voltage under load.
Real cost of a refurbished failure
A drive loses control power because the universal input stage fails—the drive trips. Cost: 30,000. The refurbished AGG1 cost 1,000; the new surplus board costs 1,300. Pay the 300.
