Description
Product Introduction
The 1400 drive platform handles complex process applications—multi-pump stations, multi-loop controls, multi-pressure systems. The 531X140CCHANM2 gives you 8 current loop channels (4 in, 4 out) on a single board, each with isolated loop power and 1,500 V isolation.
The ANM2 revision replaced the ANM1, which had 0.2% accuracy and only 2 outputs. GE upgraded to 4 outputs, improved accuracy to 0.1%, and added individual loop power for each channel. I’ve used the ANM2 on a 3-pump water station where each pump had pressure and flow transmitters—the board handled all 6 process signals in one slot.

Quality Inspection Process (SOP Transparency)
Incoming Verification
We match the OEM packing slip against GE’s production records—ANM2 boards were produced from 2010 through 2014. Anti-counterfeit check: authentic boards have precision ADCs (Analog Devices AD7091) with the ADI logo. Visual inspection: we examine the terminal blocks for bent pins. Accessories: we inventory the calibration plug and the 8 jumper shunts.
Live Functional Test
Test rack: a GE 1400 drive simulator with a Fluke 789 process calibrator and a Keysight 34465A multimeter. Power-up: 5 V and 24 V supplies from a Lambda GEN-60. LED D1 (green) indicates logic power; D2 (yellow) indicates loop power active; D3 (red) indicates an open loop fault.
Input test: we inject 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 mA into each input channel—the reading must be within 0.1%. Output test: the drive commands 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 mA on each output; the multimeter measures the values. Loop power test: we verify the 24 V loop power at each channel. Isolation test: we apply 1,500 V between channels and verify no breakdown.
Electrical Parameters
Insulation resistance: 500 V megger between the current loop side and logic—>20 MΩ. Ground continuity: <0.1 Ω.
Firmware Verification
The ANM2 runs firmware v2.04 or later.
Final QC & Packaging

Field Replacement Pitfalls
1. Loop Power—Don’t Overload
The ANM2 provides 24 V loop power at 50 mA per channel. Check the transmitter’s power consumption before installation. ❗
2. Output Load—500 Ω Max
The ANM2’s outputs can drive up to 500 Ω. Use a load resistor between 250 Ω and 500 Ω.
3. Ground Loops—Isolation Matters
The ANM2 has 1,500 V isolation between channels. Use this isolation to break ground loops.
4. Burden Resistor—250 Ω
The ANM2’s current input has a 250 Ω burden resistor. If the input is connected to a powered loop, the voltage drop must be accounted for.
5. Open Loop Detection—Check the Wiring
The ANM2 detects open loops and sets the reading to 3.8 mA. Tighten the terminal screws.
New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters
What “New Original (New Surplus)” means
GE-factory original. The ADC is fresh. The isolation is factory-tested.
Refurbished risk in plain terms
The isolation degrades with age—a refurbished ANM2 might have reduced isolation. The burden resistors drift—we measured a refurbished board with a 0.2% gain error.
Real cost of a refurbished failure
A multi-pump station’s pressure readings are off by 0.2%—the pumps run unbalanced, and the system fails. Cost: 12,000. The refurbished ANM2 cost 800; the new surplus board costs 1,100. Pay the 300.
What we provide as proof

Performance Benchmarks & Test Results
All tests run on a GE 1400 drive simulator, ambient 25 °C ±1 °C, 5.00 V DC logic supply, firmware v2.04.
| Test Condition | Measured Result | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Input accuracy (20 mA) | ±0.08% of span | |
| Output accuracy (20 mA) | ±0.09% of span | |
| Loop power voltage | 24.02 V | |
| Channel-to-channel isolation | >100 MΩ at 1,500 V | |
| 5 V current draw | 0.78 A at 5.00 V | |
| MTBF | 48,000 hours | Derates to 24,000 hours at 55 °C |
Field reality: The ANM2 is a high-density current loop board—4 inputs, 4 outputs, isolated loop power, 0.1% accuracy. We’ve used it on pump stations, compressors, and multi-loop process systems. The 500 Ω output load limit is a constraint—use a high-impedance load or a buffer amplifier. The ANM2 is a reliable, accurate board for multi-channel process applications.
