The DS3800NSQE is GE’s Ethernet termination board for the Mark VIe system, providing a single 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port for connecting your turbine control to the plant network. It sits between the Ethernet communication module and the field cabling, providing the physical interface and electrical isolation.

What you get is a board that’s more than just a fancy RJ-45 jack. It has 1500V magnetic isolation on the Ethernet port, protecting the Mark VIe from surges and ground loops that can travel over network cables. What Ethernet speed does the NSQE support?
10/100Base-TX, auto-negotiating. The board will connect at either 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, depending on the network device it’s connected to. The actual throughput is determined by the Ethernet communication module and the I/O module’s processing power.

What protocol does the NSQE support?
The board itself doesn’t care about protocols—it’s a passive termination board that provides the physical interface. The protocol (Modbus TCP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, etc.) is handled by the Ethernet communication module that plugs into the 50-pin header. The board just passes the electrical signals.

What’s the maximum cable length?

Does the NSQE support fiber optic Ethernet?

What’s the most common field issue?
Using the wrong cable. The NSQE requires Cat5 or better cable. Using old, damaged, or poorly terminated cable will cause link drops and communication errors. Also, make sure the cable shield is properly grounded if you’re using shielded cable—the NSQE’s RJ-45 connector is shielded, and the shield should connect to the cabinet ground.
