The DS3800HIOA1C1E is the I/O expansion board in the 1C1E configuration—locking spring-cage terminals with 1A fusing on Bank 1 and 5A fusing on Bank 2. This board extends the Mark V system’s I/O capacity while providing the vibration resistance of locking terminals and the highest fuse rating available for expansion boards. The 5A fuse on Bank 2 provides maximum headroom for I/O modules with extremely high current requirements or long cable runs, while the 1A bank is suitable for standard modules. The 32 I/O point capacity is sufficient for most expansion needs.

We’ve used the HIOA1C1E in a large plant expansion where we needed to add 32 additional I/O points, including high-current output modules driving large solenoids with long cable runs. The 5A bank handled the high-current modules without nuisance trips, and the locking terminals prevented intermittent connections in the high-vibration environment.
