Product Introduction

The plant manager wanted a remote display in the control room—a second screen showing turbine data. But the Mark IV cabinet only had one display port. The DS3800DFXB is the expansion display interface module, providing an additional display output for remote operator stations or data loggers. Installed the DFXB, and the remote display was up and running.

GE’s DS3800DFXB is the expansion display interface module for the Mark IV Speedtronic turbine control system. It provides an additional display interface for remote operator stations, data loggers, or auxiliary displays. The module takes formatted data from the CPU and provides a secondary display output (serial or video). It’s used in applications where a second display is needed—such as a remote control room, an engineering workstation, or a data logging station.

Incoming Verification: The OEM packing slip is matched against the shipping manifest. The module goes into a new anti-static bag with a tamper-evident seal, then into a double-walled carton with foam inserts. Field Replacement Pitfalls

Baud Rate Mismatch
The DFXB’s serial ports must be configured to match the auxiliary display’s baud rate. I had a plant where a technician replaced a DFXB and didn’t set the baud rate switches correctly—the auxiliary display was blank. ❗ Photograph the old module’s baud rate switches before removal. Replicate them on the new module.

Display Format Configuration

New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters

The DS3800DFXB is a legacy auxiliary display interface module. Refurbishment risk is significant.
