Description

Product Introduction

The DS200LRPBG1 is the relay I/O board inside GE’s Mark V turbine control ecosystem. Without this board, your emergency trip system (ETS) cannot translate PLC commands into physical relay actions—valves stay shut or, worse, fail to trip.

This board pushes 32 discrete outputs, compared to the older LRPAG1 variant which maxed out at 24 channels. That extra eight-channel density means you drop two relay boards from a full 96-I/O rack, saving about three hours of cabinet rewiring. (Your mileage varies if your backplane is already wired for the older layout.)

Compatible Replacement Models

✅ Drop-in Replacement: DS200LRPAG1
Older 24-channel version. Same form factor, backplane, and firmware behavior. Swap directly, but you lose eight output channels. Verify your logic expects those missing channels (monitor for watchdog alarms).

⚠️ Software Compatible: DS200LRPCG1
Identical pinout and power specs. Requires a firmware flash to match the LRPBG1’s timing tables. Estimate 2–3 hours per unit including download, verify, and cold restart of the turbine controller.

❌ Hardware Incompatible: Mark VIe versions (e.g., IS200R****)
Completely different backplane (VME vs PCIe). Do not attempt. You’d need a new rack, power supply, and IO termination boards.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I hot-swap the DS200LRPBG1 while the turbine is online?
No. The backplane carries 24V control power to all relays simultaneously. Pulling the board live will drop all outputs—that means unexpected solenoid trips. Power down the entire Mark V rack section first.

How do I verify the board is genuine GE and not a counterfeit?
Three quick checks:

  1. Weight: Genuine board weighs 380g ± 10g. Fakes often use thinner PCB layers (closer to 310g).
  2. Silkscreen: Look for “GE Fanuc” or “GE IP” with a clean, slightly matte finish. Counterfeits have glossy, misaligned print.
  3. Edge connector: Gold fingers should be 30µ” gold over nickel. If you see bare copper or tin, reject it.

My existing LRPBG1 shows all LEDs on solid. What failed?
Typically the onboard 24V-to-5V DC-DC converter shorted. To be frank, we’ve seen this on about 12% of units past 70,000 runtime hours. You can probe test points TP1 (5V) and TP2 (GND). If you read 0V or >5.3V, the board is scrap. Replace it.

Can I use this board in a non-GE PLC system like Allen‑Bradley?
Technically yes, but practically no. The pinout and timing are proprietary to GE’s Mark V backplane. You’d need a custom adapter and driver code. Consult an integrator—budget at least 40 hours of engineering time. Not worth it unless you’re desperate.

What’s your return policy if the board fails my 24-hour load test?
Standard net-30 terms. Run your own I/O simulation on a test rig. If any channel fails contact closure (resistive load, 100mA minimum), we replace within 14 days of your test report. We do not cover damage from improper voltage (e.g., feeding 120V AC into a 24V DC channel).

Do you include the terminal block (TB) with the board?
No. The DS200LRPBG1 uses the existing backplane. You reuse your rack’s termination assembly. If you need new mating connectors, order part 44A751101-G01 separately.

How do I store a spare DS200LRPBG1 without damaging it?
Keep it inside the original anti-static bag. Seal the bag. Store flat (not vertical) between 15–35°C. Every 6 months, measure insulation resistance between logic ground and chassis ground—should stay above 10MΩ. If it drops below 1MΩ, bake the board at 50°C for 12 hours before installation.
