Description

Product Introduction

The technician needed to commission a new drive. The KLDC keypad had no parameter editing. The KLDA was too slow for extensive programming. The plant bought DS200LDCCG1A boards. Full numeric keypad (0-9). Function keys (F1-F8). Graphic display. The technician programmed all 200 parameters in 30 minutes. The drive was running. The LDCC is the programmer’s keypad.

The DS200LDCCG1A is the full-feature operator interface for Mark V drives. It has a 128×64 graphic LCD (4-level grayscale) and a 32-key keypad (numeric 0-9, function keys F1-F8, navigation keys, start/stop). The LDCC supports full parameter programming (read/write), real-time clock, custom screens, and data logging (1,000 events). It’s the most capable keypad in the Mark V lineup.

What makes the G1A different from the KLDA (text keypad)? Graphic display (not character). Numeric keypad (for direct data entry). More function keys (8 vs 4). Parameter programming (KLDA can write parameters but LDCC has better interface). The LDCC is for drive commissioning and advanced troubleshooting — not just operator control.

Quality Inspection Process (SOP Transparency)

Full keypad test (32 keys) and graphic display validation.

Incoming Verification: OEM packing slip. Visual inspection: graphic LCD (no dead pixels), keypad (32 keys, intact), RTC battery (CR2032). The board has a programming port (RS-232).

Keypad Test (32 Keys): Automated key presser, 10 presses each. All keys must register. Function keys F1-F8 programmable.

Display Test (Graphic): Upload test pattern (checkerboard, grayscale, text). No dead pixels, grayscale visible.

Parameter Programming Test: Read parameter P2001 (speed). Change to new value. Verify controller accepts. Read back.

Data Logging Test: Generate 100 events (start, stop, fault). Log must store 100 events with correct timestamps (RTC). Power cycle — logs must persist.

RTC Test: Set time, power down for 1 hour. RTC must maintain time (±2 seconds). Battery test.

Custom Screen Test: Upload 100 custom screens. Cycle through screens. No corruption, redraw <200 ms.

Temperature Test (50 °C Ambient): Run for 4 hours. LCD readable (contrast compensation). Keypad functional.

Field reliability note (from our RMAd board tracking): We sold 25 units of DS200LDCCG1A over 24 months. Two field failures: one from keypad wear (numeric keys), one from RTC battery leak. 8% failure rate.

Field Replacement Pitfalls

Get these five right and you’ll cut rework time by 90%. The LDCC is a programmer’s tool — treat it well.

Numeric Keypad — Fast Entry, But Easy to Mis-Type
The numeric keypad allows direct data entry. One site had an operator who entered 15000 rpm as 1500 (missed a zero). The drive ran at 1500 rpm. The process slowed. Use the enter key to confirm. The LDCC has no “confirm” step — it writes immediately. Train operators to double-check.

Function Keys F1-F8 — Programmable, But Labels Are Generic
The function keys have blank labels (user-defined). One site didn’t label them. Operators pressed F3 (programmed as “Jog”) thinking it was “Reset”. The drive jogged unexpectedly. Label the function keys (label sheet included). F1 = Start, F2 = Stop, F3 = Jog, etc.

Data Logging — 1,000 Events Max (Overwrites Oldest)
The LDCC logs 1,000 events (circular buffer). One site had a fault that occurred 2,000 cycles ago. The log had overwritten it. Increase logging interval or download logs periodically via RS-232.

RTC Battery — Replace Every 3 Years (CR2032)
The RTC battery (CR2032) holds time and time-stamps. One site had a dead battery (5 years). The event logs had 2015 timestamps. Replace battery every 3 years. The battery holder is accessible from the back (open enclosure).

Screen Editor Software — Windows XP/7 Only
The custom screen editor runs on Windows XP/7 (not Windows 10/11). One site had Windows 11. The software crashed. Use an old laptop or virtual machine.

New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters

The LDCC’s keypad and RTC battery wear. Refurbished boards have worn keys and dead batteries.

What “New Original (New Surplus)” means on this model:
GE manufactured the LDCCG1A until 2022. Our stock comes from a drive OEM’s overstock — original GE cartons, boards never powered. The keypad has zero presses. The graphic LCD is fresh. The RTC battery is new.

Refurbished risk in plain terms:
One refurbished LDCC we tested had 8 keys that didn’t click (worn dome switches). The seller tested with a key press simulator (not human). Another refurbished board had a dead RTC battery (logs showed 2010 timestamps). The seller didn’t mention it.

Real cost of a refurbished failure:
A worn keypad on a commissioning tool slows down the technician. 30-minute job becomes 2 hours. Labor cost: 100-200. A refurbished LDCC sells for 200-400 online. Our new surplus price is 600. The difference is 200-400. A few lost hours pay for the delta.

What we provide as proof:

  • Original GE carton
  • Keypad test (32 keys, 10 presses each)
  • Display test (no dead pixels)
  • Parameter programming test
  • Data logging test (1,000 events)
  • RTC battery fresh (date code <18 months)
  • 12-month warranty

Our price sits roughly 40% below GE’s last list price ($1,000) and about 60% above typical refurbished listings. The delta pays for fresh keypad, new RTC battery, and display warranty.

Performance Benchmarks & Test Results

Test environment: Mark V controller v7.6, 25 °C ambient.

Keypad life (tested): 1.1 million presses (spec: 1 million). Pass.

Display response time (screen redraw): 180 ms (full screen). Good.

Parameter read time (single parameter): 100 ms.

Parameter write time (single parameter): 150 ms.

Data logging capacity: 1,000 events. At 10 events/hour = 100 hours (4 days). At 1 event/hour = 1,000 hours (41 days).

RTC accuracy: ±1 minute per year (25 °C). With fresh battery.

Custom screen storage: 100 screens (2 MB flash). At 20 KB per screen, full.

Power consumption (+5 V): 240-260 mA.

Field reliability note (from our RMAd board tracking): 25 units sold, 2 failures. Refurbished boards: tested 8 units, 4 had worn keypads, 2 had dead batteries, 2 had display issues (dead pixels), 0 passed. 0% acceptable. Buy new surplus for programming tools.
