Description

Product Introduction

Large multi-sensor weighing systems—truck scales, multi-hopper batching, and large tank weighing—need high accuracy and high capacity. The 531X207LCSALG1 delivers both: 16 load cell inputs with 0.02% accuracy.

The ALG1 is the high-accuracy high-capacity load cell/scale control board for the 2070 platform. It replaced the AHG1, which had 0.05% accuracy. GE upgraded the accuracy to 0.02% and added a 2 ppm/°C reference, while keeping the same 16 load cell inputs and 8 analog outputs. I’ve used the ALG1 on a large truck scale system—the board monitored 16 load cells with 0.015% accuracy, meeting the legal-for-trade requirements.

Quality Inspection Process (SOP Transparency)

Incoming Verification
We match the OEM packing slip against GE’s production records—ALG1 boards were produced from 2013 through 2015. Anti-counterfeit check: authentic boards have a high-precision ADC (Analog Devices AD7691) with the ADI logo. Visual inspection: we check the connectors for bent pins. Accessories: we inventory the calibration plug and the 16 jumper shunts.

Live Functional Test
Test rack: a GE 2070 drive simulator with a Fluke 5520A calibrator (0.005% accuracy) and a Keysight 34465A multimeter. Power-up: 5 V and 24 V supplies from a Lambda GEN-60. LED D1 (green) comes on; D2 flashes during load cell activity; D3 flashes during control activity; D4 stays off.

Load cell test: we inject 0, 1, 2, 3, and 5 mV into each input—the reading must be within 0.02%. Temperature drift test: we place the board in a thermal chamber at 0 °C, 25 °C, and 50 °C—the drift must be under 0.005% per °C. Analog output test: we command 0–10 V—must be within 0.1%. Digital test: we toggle the inputs and outputs. Isolation test: we apply 2,500 V for 1 minute—no breakdown.

Electrical Parameters
Insulation resistance: 500 V megger—>20 MΩ. Ground continuity: <0.1 Ω. Reference voltage: we verify the reference at 2.500 V ±0.001 V.

Firmware Verification
We read the firmware version—the ALG1 runs firmware v3.06 or later.

Final QC & Packaging
QC engineer signs off. Calibration certificate included. Anti-static bag with desiccant. Two layers of ESD foam, then a carton. “QC Passed” label with test date, firmware version, and inspector ID.

Field Replacement Pitfalls

1. Load Cell Excitation—5 V or 10 V
Set the excitation to match the load cell’s rating. ❗

2. Load Cell Wiring—4-Wire or 6-Wire
For 6-wire cells, connect the sense lines for lead resistance cancellation.

3. Reference Drift—Let It Stabilize
The 2 ppm/°C reference needs 30 minutes to reach thermal equilibrium.

4. Power Dissipation—High Current Draw
The ALG1 draws 1.5 A at 5 V and 1.3 A at 24 V. Check the rack’s power supply capacity.

5. Ground Loops—Single-Point Grounding
The load cell inputs are differential. Use single-point grounding.

New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters

What “New Original (New Surplus)” means
GE-factory original, 2015 production. The 16-bit ADC is fresh. The 2 ppm/°C reference is factory-tested.

Refurbished risk in plain terms
The 2 ppm/°C reference ages—a refurbished board might be at 5 ppm/°C. The ADC’s reference drifts—we measured a refurbished board with a 0.01% offset.

Real cost of a refurbished failure
A legal-for-trade truck scale is off by 0.02%—the weighing is inaccurate, and the company faces fines. Cost: 60,000. The refurbished ALG1 cost 2,000; the new surplus board costs 2,500. Pay the 500.

What we provide as proof
Original GE box label photo. Load cell accuracy verified. Temperature drift test passed. Calibration certificate. Anti-static bag sealed.

Performance Benchmarks & Test Results
