Product Introduction
Weighing and mass flow control are critical in many processes—cement plants, chemical reactors, and food processing. The 531X207LCSACG1 provides precise load cell signal conditioning, rate calculation, and mass flow control for GE 2070 drives.
The ACG1 is the load cell/scale control board for the 2070 platform—the large AC drives for pumps, fans, and conveyors. It replaced the ABG1, which had 4 load cell inputs and 2 analog outputs. GE added 4 more load cell inputs, 2 more analog outputs, and upgraded the PID algorithm. I’ve used the ACG1 on a cement plant weigh feeder—the board processed 4 load cell signals and controlled the feeder speed to maintain accurate mass flow.

Quality Inspection Process (SOP Transparency)
Incoming Verification
We match the OEM packing slip against GE’s production records—ACG1 boards were produced from 2011 through 2015. Anti-counterfeit check: authentic boards have a precision ADC (Analog Devices AD7691) with the ADI logo. Visual inspection: we check the load cell terminal blocks for bent pins. Accessories: we inventory the calibration plug and the 8 jumper shunts.
Live Functional Test
Test rack: a GE 2070 drive simulator with a load cell simulator (0–5 mV), a Fluke 789 process calibrator, and a Keysight 34465A multimeter. Power-up: 5 V and 24 V supplies from a Lambda GEN-60. LED D1 (green) comes on; D2 flashes during load cell activity; D3 flashes during control activity; D4 stays off.
Load cell test: we inject 0, 1, 2, 3, and 5 mV—the reading must be within 0.05%. Rate test: we vary the load cell signal and verify the rate calculation. Mass flow test: we set a mass flow setpoint and verify the PID output drives the analog output. Analog output test: we command 0–10 V—must be within 0.5%. Isolation test: we apply 2,500 V for 1 minute—no breakdown.
Electrical Parameters
Insulation resistance: 500 V megger—>20 MΩ. Ground continuity: <0.1 Ω.
Firmware Verification
We read the firmware version—the ACG1 runs firmware v2.05 or later.
Final QC & Packaging
QC engineer signs off. Calibration certificate included. Anti-static bag with desiccant. Two layers of ESD foam, then a carton. “QC Passed” label with test date, firmware version, and inspector ID.
Field Replacement Pitfalls
1. Load Cell Excitation—5 V or 10 V
The ACG1’s load cell excitation is software-selectable. If you set the excitation too high, the load cell overheats. ❗ Set the excitation to match the load cell’s rating.
2. Load Cell Wiring—4-Wire or 6-Wire
The ACG1 supports both 4-wire and 6-wire load cells. For 6-wire cells, connect the sense lines for lead resistance cancellation.
3. Bridge Impedance—350–1,000 Ω
The ACG1 supports bridges from 350 Ω to 1,000 Ω. Check the load cell’s impedance.
4. PID Tuning—Start with Conservative Gains
The ACG1’s PID mass flow controller is aggressive. Start with low gains and increase gradually.
5. Ground Loops—Single-Point Grounding
The load cell inputs are differential. Use single-point grounding to avoid ground loops.
New Original vs. Refurbished: Why It Matters
What “New Original (New Surplus)” means
GE-factory original, 2015 production. The ADC is factory-tested. The load cell inputs have zero hours.
Refurbished risk in plain terms
The ADC’s reference drifts with age—a refurbished board might have a 0.05% offset. The load cell excitation sources drift—we measured a refurbished board with a 0.1% excitation error.
Real cost of a refurbished failure
A cement plant’s weigh feeder is off by 0.5%—the product quality fails. Cost: 30,000. The refurbished ACG1 cost 1,300; the new surplus board costs 1,600. Pay the 300.
